What time does my trash need to be out at the curb?

While times vary by location, the best rule of thumb is to put all garbage and recyclables at the curb by 5:00 a.m. on your collection day.

Does the trash inside my cart have to be bagged?

Yes, typically all trash must be bagged and placed inside your approved garbage receptacle or provided wheeled cart.

Do you take appliances?

Bulk item and appliance collections vary by location and contract. Items such as appliances, mattresses and home furnishings may require special handling and/or advance notice. If your item is in working condition, you may wish to donate it to a local charity or use earth911.com, freecycle.org to find alternatives.

When will you pick up my landscape debris or yard waste?

Landscape debris or yard waste collection is offered in many of the communities we service.

Do you take old tires?

Tire collection varies by location and contract.

Do you take Christmas trees?

For many of our customers, we collect Christmas trees on your regularly scheduled collection days during the first two weeks of January. Please remove all tree bags, ornaments, tinsel and stands.

Do you pick up oversized trash items?

Items such as home furnishings, mattresses, carpet and appliances may require special handling and/or advance notice.

Do you collect old TVs, stereos and computers?

Liberty Ashes Inc. does not collect electronic waste. Many communities host special collection or drop-off programs for e-waste.

How do I dispose of cooking oil?

Large amounts of cooking oil should not be flushed into drains or septic tanks. Instead, it should be recycled at special collection or drop-off programs for household hazardous waste.

Can I dispose of paint in my trash?

Paint cans are considered household hazardous waste. Contact us to inquire about safe hazardous waste disposal in your area.

Yes, you can place your services on hold while you are on vacation by contacting us.

RECYCLING

What can and can't be recycled?

The list of accepted recyclable items varies by location and contract. For an exact list of items that can be recycled in your area, please check your local facility.

The following items are not recyclable:

  • Ceramics
  • Pyrex or other glass cookware
  • Drinking glasses
  • Disposable diapers
  • Medical waste (including needles)

The following items should not be placed in your recycling container but may have other ways for recycling:

  • Clothing and shoes can be recycled by taking the items to Goodwill, a thrift store or other nonprofit location.
  • Plastic bags are recyclable but are best handled by returning them to grocery stores or other retailers that have special recycling programs.
  • Bricks, concrete and wood are recyclable but may need to be handled separately.
  • Yard waste may be recyclable but needs to be handled separately.
  • Food waste and items contaminated with or containing food should not be placed with other recyclables. Advanced Disposal does collect organics in select areas, but items are handled separately and not taken to a material recovery facility.

Tips for recycling:

  • Please clean and rinse cans, bottles and jars.
  • Large pieces of cardboard and cardboard boxes should be broken down and cut into smaller pieces (preferably 3 feet x 3 feet).
  • Cartons made from aseptic packaging such are recyclable.

Do you recycle polystyrene foam plastic?

Polystyrene foam plastic is not recyclable and we are not able to accept it for recycling at this time. Before discarding polystyrene foam plastic peanuts, consider taking them to your local mail and packaging store for reuse, typically without charge.

Do you recycle motor oil or oil filters?

Liberty Ashes Inc. does not collect motor oil or oil filers. Many communities host special collection or drop-off programs for hazardous waste.

Do you recycle electronics?

Liberty Ashes Inc. does not collect electronic waste. Many communities host special collection or drop-off programs for e-waste.

Do you pick up office furniture or equipment for recycling or reuse?

Items such as furniture and equipment may require special handling. If your item is in working condition, you may wish to donate it to a local charity or use earth911.com, freecycle.org to find alternatives.

How do I report a problem or concern?

Will my service be delayed by holidays?

Residential collection may be delayed due to the following holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. As a general rule, holidays push our residential pickup schedules back one day with regular schedules resuming the following week.
